Chord Study 2 - Major and Minor Chord


Major Chord

A major chord consists of the 1st, 3rd, and 5th notes of the scale. For instance, in the key of G, the notes G, B, and D are to be played. As long as your fingers reach each note comfortably it is permissible to play them. But remember it is not limited to one octave that you must play, the notes in the other octave can be played to form the chord. See illustration below:

See how two forms of G chord were built based on the G major scale. In the first chord, either of the note B or D can be played in the #2 string.
